Beauty of Language
Did you ever realize how beautiful language can be?
I mean sometimes when you put two of a different kind together, side by side, you can really find some interesting stuff.
For e.g. 最好的男人是谁? Most ladies would say their husband, boyfriend, daddy, the Father...
But actually it is 伴郎 in the wedding. "The-Best-Man". Which means even better than the bridegroom himself. Maybe that explains why the Western society has been the leader in divorce rates. They still don't know that they should marry "The-Best-Man" to have a happy life.
In English, 伴娘 is called "The Bride's Maid", direct translated as 新娘的佣人(for SEA) or 新娘的阿姨 (for China) - 打扫的。Not much dignity in it I guess. Haha.
However, the Chinese gives each a more balance name; 伴郎伴娘, looks more equal doesn't it. Quite surprising from a once female-discriminating society though.
For those who are enthu- about becoming "The-Best-Man" or "The Bride's Maid", please just ignore me and be one happi- and merrily. I'm just bored and trying to be crappy.
Don't mind if you wanna share share some beauty of language though...
